چکیده
A Co ine Vid A 44-year-old man was referred to the cardiology outpatient clinic due to dyspnea on exertion. He had undergone aortic valve replacement with a biological prosthetic valve (Carpentier-Edwards 23 mm, Edwards Lifesciences, Irvine, California) and reconstruction of the mitroaortic junction due to infective endocarditis by Streptococcus viridians, both events in 2004. Transthoracic echocardiogram revealed a mildly dilated left ventricle with preserved function, a biological prosthetic valve with mild stenosis (effective area 1.3 mm), and an abnormal flow in the left atrium (Fig. 1A). A transesophageal echocardiogram confirmed a patent communication between the aortic root at the level of the noncoronary sinus and left atrium, close

Infective endocarditis of an aorto-right atrial fistula caused by asymptomatic rupture of a sinus of Valsalva aneurysm: a case report
Asymptomatic rupture of a sinus of Valsalva aneurysm is rare. A fistula following rupture of a sinus of Valsalva aneurysm may cause infective endocarditis. Here, we report a case of infective endocarditis of an aorto-right atrial fistula caused by asymptomatic rupture of a sinus of Valsalva aneurysm. A 45-year-old male, who was first diagnosed with a heart murmur at the age of 37 years, present...
متن کاملA rare case of sinus of valsalva-right atrial fistula secondary to an abscess perforation from underlying aortic valve endocarditis
Sinus of Valsalva-right atrial fistulas are abnormal connections between the aorta and the right atrium, and present challenging surgical conditions. An extremely rare etiology of aorto-right atrial fistula is infective endocarditis. This case report presents a 21 year old Caucasian female patient who had native aortic valve Staphylococcus aureus endocarditis complicated by sinus of Valsalva ab...
متن کامل[Transcatheter closure of aorto-left atrial fistula using an Amplatzer device].
Aorto-left atrial fistulas are rare. We describe the case of a patient in whom transcatheter closure of an aorto-left atrial fistula was carried out using an Amplatzer septal occluder. The patient had previously undergone cardiac surgery twice because of a recurrent left atrial myxoma. Closure of this type of fistula using a transcatheter device should be considered when the location and size o...
متن کاملAortic Valve Staphylococcus Aureus Endocarditis Complicated by Sinus of Valsalva-Right Atrial Fistula
Infective Endocarditis is an extremely rare etiology of sinus of Valsalva-right atrial fistulas, abnormal connections between the aorta and the right atrium. We report the case of a 21-year-old female patient with native aortic valve Staphylococcus aureus endocarditis complicated by sinus of Valsalva abscess perforation associated with an acute heart block, an aorto-right atrial fistula, severe...
متن کاملPercutaneous approaches to closure of coronary artery fistulas
Coronary artery fistula (CAF) is the most common hemodynamically significant congenital coronary anomaly. Blood is shunted from the coronary artery to a cardiac chamber, vein or intrathoracic vessel, bypassing the myocardial capillary network. The majority of the fistulas are small, and are detected incidentally and do not require intervention. The natural history of a CAF is variable and even ...
